Mary Kissel, a member of the Wall Street Journal's editorial board, appeared at Arizona State University on Friday night, as a part of a lecture about first amendment rights on campus which was hosted by the ASU Center for Political Thought & Leadership.
Kissel is known for her contributions to the Wall Street Journal, as well as for appearing on television across various cable news programs on Fox News and CNN, among others.
In her speech, Kissel highlighted many recent events in which first amendment rights for free speech were oppressed at more liberal colleges and universities, with speakers being protested and facing physical harm, such as Charles Murray, Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopolous.
Following her remarks, Kissel took questions from ASU students, who voiced their own concerns about speaking out on campus given their own conservative beliefs, and their hope to avoid backlash from fellow students and professors.
