In what will likely be the Democrats' last major campaign event in the state, Bernie Sanders made an appearance in Arizona, speaking at Central High School in Phoenix to a crowd of several hundred supporters.
Sanders has been travelling the country on behalf of the Clinton campaign, which drew criticism from many of his loyal supporters. Sanders endorsed Clinton shortly before the Democratic National Convention, where Sanders placed second.
According to political analysts, many Sanders supporters have been reluctant to support Clinton, due to her differing political positions such as her past involvement with Wall Street and a more hawkish foreign policy.
Several high profile Democrats visited Arizona in the hopes of flipping the state into the Democratic column, with several Clinton surrogates speaking around the state, including Michelle Obama, Chelsea Clinton, Janet Napolitano, Gabrielle Giffords, Anne Holton, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
