The 43rd Annual TusCon was held in Tucson, Arizona over the weekend, with author George R. R. Martin serving as the convention's Guest of Honor. TusCon is a small convention focused solely on science fiction and fantasy literature, art, and other media.

Martin is widely known for his work as the author of the acclaimed A Song of Ice & Fire series, which serves as the basis for the equally acclaimed television series Game of Thrones on HBO.

According to convention staff, this was the first year that the convention sold out, granted the attendance was capped at 500 attendees in order to allow more intimate interactions with the convention guests.

Martin also previously was the Guest of Honor for TusCon in the 1980's, long before his success with A Song of Ice & Fire and before becoming a household name. He also took the time to autograph books and other items during two autograph sessions during the convention.
