The 10th annual Saboten Con was held over the weekend, with several voice actor guests, musicians, artists, dozens of exhibitors and thousands of attendees converging on downtown Phoenix to discuss the fandom surrounding anime. This year's event was held at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix, as with the past two years.
Saboten Con is known for bringing together many different anime voice actors from across the world, including from Japan, and this year the conference introduced a new panel known as the "Senpai Chit Chat," which featured several of the voice actors on stage at once multiple times throughout the weekend in a more relaxed setting.
This year's guests included Ben Diskin, Cherami Leigh, Robert Axelrod, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Japanese anime voice actress Yuko Miyamura, among others. Bosch also performed on the opening night of the event with his band, Eyeshine.
Another highlight of Saboten Con is the anime cosplayers who regularly attend the convention to show off their costumes that they've worked on diligently leading up to the gathering. A masquerade was also held, where cosplayers were able to show off their costumes to hundreds of attendees.
As of 2016, Saboten Con had more than 9,000 attendees, making it one of the largest conventions focused specifically on anime in the southwest.
