Pence adds Arizona stop to reassure Republicans

Governor Mike Pence, running mate to Republican nominee Donald Trump, added a last minute campaign stop in Arizona, likely to reassure Republicans in a state that has moved to tossup status within the final weeks of the 2016 presidential election.

Pence was introduced by Governor Doug Ducey, who has only made one prior appearance at a Trump campaign event, but given Pence's appeal among party loyalists it is not a surprising move.

The campaign appearance took place early in the morning at the Mesa Convention Center. Pence's next stop was in deep blue New Mexico, which caused many political analysts to question the strategy of targeting a state that is likely not to go Republican.

Donald Trump made his own appearance in the state the Saturday prior to Pence's event.
