The 2018 Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) West occurred this past weekend, taking over downtown Seattle in a sprawling campus of various hotels and the Washington State Convention Center. The annual event is held as a celebration of all things gaming culture, including video games, board games, and arcade games.


The event features dozens of panels, sessions sponsored by video game companies, and also is a popular cosplay event as well.


The first PAX West took place in 2004, and has grown in attendance ever since then, with more than 70,000 attendees reported in 2011.


Several YouTube stars made presentations at the event as well, including Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, as well as author Patrick Rothfuss who conducted a Q&A session with fans.
