U.S. Senate candidate Kelli Ward campaigned with U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky in Scottsdale, before a crowd of supporters at a fundraiser. The event was held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort.


In addition to Paul, several of Ward's former colleagues at the state legislature spoke at the event, including Russell Pearce, Warren Petersen and Nancy Barto. Former Maricopa County Republican Party Chairman Tyler Bowyer emceed the event.


Ward will face a challenge from U.S. Congresswoman Martha McSally, and former Sheriff Joe Arpaio in the Republican primary. U.S. Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema is the likely Democratic Party nominee.


The race for U.S. Senate in Arizona is seen as being one of the potentially most hotly contested races in the country, following the retirement of incumbent Senator Jeff Flake.
