Over the past week, former U.S. Congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul, made stops in both California and Arizona, speaking at several events with both students and legislators.
Ron Paul was the keynote speaker for this year's Los Angeles Spring Summit hosted by Young Americans for Liberty at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and spoke of his latest efforts as well as the current political environment. Paul is the host of a podcast called the "Ron Paul Liberty Report" in which he focuses on various political issues important to libertarian activists.
Political commentator Julie Borowski and comedian Jeremy McLellan were also speakers at the Los Angeles Spring Summit, in which more than 350 students from the southwest gathered in order to improve their political activism.
Following Paul's trip to California, he also visited Phoenix, Arizona, where he met with legislators about H.B. 2014, a sound money bill currently in the Arizona legislature.
Paul first testified before the Senate Finance Committee in which the bill was approved by a 4 to 3 vote, and then met with supporters outside the Capitol building for a rally. He then toured the Arizona House of Representatives, meeting with Speaker J.D. Mesnard, and finally was introduced on the floor by State Representative Mark Finchem, the sponsor of H.B. 2014.
