Sinema appeals to education advocates in Phoenix

U.S. Congresswoman and Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate Kyrsten Sinema appeared at a neighborhood canvas event held by the Arizona Education Association on Wednesday afternoon, appealing to education advocates to support her campaign.

The event was held at Provision Coffee Arcadia, where several dozen education advocates had gathered to organize a neighborhood canvassing efforts in the suburbs just outside of downtown Phoenix.

Sinema is polling closely with U.S. Congresswoman Martha McSally, the Republican nominee, although Sinema has largely avoided campaigning at large rallies, which McSally has embraced (having campaigned with the President last week.)

If Sinema were to be elected, she would be the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Arizona, but McSally also hopes to take that mantle. The seat was originally vacated by retiring U.S. Senator Jeff Flake who decided against another bid.
