Donald Trump returned to Arizona for his sixth campaign appearance since last July, this time campaigning in the deep red Yavapai County, in Prescott Valley. In 2012, the county was won by Romney by a 30-point margin, which will likely remain the case in 2016.
Trump spoke at the Prescott Valley Event Center, a 7,000 capacity arena, and was successfully able to fill the venue, with several thousand more unable to enter. Some attendees camped out from the night before in order to get a prime spot.
Many political analysts questioned the choice of visiting a conservative stronghold, but Trump's speech was a part of a western swing that also included the purple state of Nevada, which the Republicans hope to turn back to red, despite going to the Democrats in the last two election cycles.
The event also came on the heels of the Vice presidential debate with Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence squaring off against Hillary Clinton's running mate Mike Pence.
