Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson made his first 2016 campaign appearance in Arizona on Saturday, speaking before more than a thousand supporters, and bringing his message of economic conservatism, and social liberalism to a receptive audience.
Political analysts have pointed to the west as a prime opportunity for the Libertarian and Green party candidates to make gains on the two party system. Polling has indicated that they could pull a cumulative total of around 10-20%, depending on the state, as voters become more dissatisfied with the two main party options.
Johnson pointed out during his speech that there is one area where he agrees with both Clinton and Trump, saying, "I wholeheartedly agree with Donald Trump on his No. 1 issue in this campaign. I wholeheartedly agree with Hillary Clinton on her No. 1 issue in this campaign. Don't vote for Clinton! Don't vote for Trump!"
Johnson, along with his running mate former Governor William Weld, have been holding rallies and town halls for the past several months, with Johnson appearing in Colorado after his Arizona appearance.
