The Red for Ed march held a rally at the Arizona State Capitol on Monday afternoon, calling for action by the state legislature and Governor to increase education spending and make further improvements to the state's education system.


The rally was headlined by Noah Karvelis, a teacher who has been seen as the figurehead of the Red for Ed movement, with other speakers including local Arizona teachers.


Prior to the rally, teachers in Arizona staged a walkout, and marched to the capitol in the thousands.


Governor Doug Ducey has announced a plan that seeks to raise education spending by 20% by 2020.
