Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro campaigned in Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon on behalf of David Garcia, the Democratic nominee for Governor of Arizona.


In addition to serving as Housing and Urban Development Secretary under President Barack Obama, Castro was also the Mayor of San Antonio, Texas. His twin brother, Joaquin Castro is currently a member of Congress.


Castro is seen as a likely Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential election, which is seeming to be a crowded field. The event took place at Azukar Coffee in south Phoenix.


Garcia is fighting an uphill battle against incumbent Governor Doug Ducey, who is leading most public polls by a large margin, despite closer polling in the United States Senate race.
