The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in downtown Phoenix hosted Fox 10 reporter John Hook for an event about the murder of actor Bob Crane in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1978.
Hook wrote a book titled "Who Killed Bob Crane?: The Final Close-Up," which looks at the evidence that was presented in the original case, and details the investigation that Hook began originally as a story for a Fox 10 news report. Crane was a famous actor in the 1960s and 1970s, best known for starring in the hit television series "Hogan's Heroes."
In his investigation, Hook retested the original blood evidence using modern DNA testing "in a final search for answers." The lead suspect at the time, John Carpenter, was the focus of his investigation, due to blood samples being found in Carpenter's car.
According to Hook's investigation, with modern DNA testing, Hook was unable to find a match between the two blood samples, thus the case remains unsolved. Following his presentation, Hook signed books for community members and journalism students in attendance.
