Anne Holton, the wife of Democratic Vice Presidential nominee U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, made several appearances on Wednesday in the Phoenix area. Holton, who was the Secretary of Education in Virginia until her husband's choice by Hillary Clinton as her running mate, spoke about a variety of different topics at three events hosted by the Clinton campaign throughout downtown.

The first event's main focus was on veterans issues, with several veterans speaking about their experiences while in the military, and returning to civilian life. Holton's husband, Tim Kaine, serves on the Armed Services committee in the United States Senate. At the conclusion of the event, one panelist made Holton aware of the deportation of illegal immigrants who also served in the U.S. Military.

Following the veterans event, Holton met with a handful of Latino supporters, and then made her way to the Arizona Democratic Party headquarters for a Women for Hillary volunteer phone bank, where several dozen supporters had gathered to make phone calls on behalf of the campaign.

The visit comes on the heels of recent polling which showed some favorable numbers for Democrats in Arizona, but in a state where all statewide elected officials, and a majority of the Congressional delegation are Republicans, it may be an uphill battle. Clinton's campaign has already made investments in television advertising as well.
