Democratic nominee for the 8th congressional district special election Hiral Tipirneni hosted a town hall on Wednesday evening, speaking with supporters and community members at the Surprise Community Center in Surprise, Arizona.


Recent polling has suggested the possibility of a flip, in the traditionally Republican district. The seat became open following the resignation of U.S. Congressman Trent Franks.


Tipirneni, a doctor, has made healthcare one of the leading issues of her campaign, and has also spoken about other issues such as Social Security, education and other domestic policy issues.


Tipirneni is challenged by State Senator Debbie Lesko, who beat a crowded field of candidates to become the Republican nominee.
